Who we are
Waimauku Automotive is a vehicle workshop at 906 State Highway 16, Waimauku. This policy explains how we handle personal information we collect through this website and when you do business with us. We follow the Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.
What we collect
When you book, contact us or subscribe on this website, we collect what you enter in the form:
- Your name, phone number and email address
- Your vehicle registration, make, model and year
- The services you are interested in, your preferred date and time, and any message you send us
When you visit the website, we also collect technical information such as your IP address, browser, device and the pages you view, through cookies and Google Analytics.
When we work on your vehicle, we keep records of the vehicle and the work we do.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and confirm your booking by phone or email
- To carry out and record work on your vehicle, and to contact you about it
- To record Warrant of Fitness results with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, as the law requires
- To send you our newsletter, if you subscribed
- To understand how the website is used and improve it
- To meet our legal and tax obligations
We only use your information for these purposes, or for a purpose you agree to.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, your email address is stored with Mailchimp, the service we use to send our newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It uses cookies and does not tell us who you are. The map on our website is provided by Google Maps, which may also set cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the website still works without them.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with:
- Service providers that help us run the website, email and newsletter (our web host, Google and Mailchimp)
- Parts suppliers or specialists, only as needed to complete work you have asked for
- Government agencies, where the law requires it
Some of these providers, such as Google and Mailchimp, store information outside New Zealand, including in the United States, where privacy laws may not give the same protection as New Zealand law. We choose established providers with strong security practices.
Keeping it safe
Information sent through this website is encrypted in transit and stored with our secure web host. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within 20 working days. If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
